In the early 70's I had Hodaka Wombat that I upgraded several times. Plastic fenders were the first mod. Never did replace the big chrome toaster of a gas tank, even after I racked myself a good one on it.

The one thing I installed that I wish I could find again, was a set of Interm-Am (if I remember correctly) handle bars. The were made from a solid aluminum bar - not tubing. The didn't have a cross-bar, but they were the most resiliant things I've ever seen. When I first saw them, I thought they looked more like a speedway or TT handlebar, but the bend was very nice for off-roading.

Please let me know if you've ever seen these, or if anyone still has something like them.

Thanks,

Scott Rendleman

Wow! Very cool Scott. You're probably wondering why I'm in such amazement but being younger, I only have the blessing of hearing stories similiar from my uncles (whom were heavy into MX as well).

While I can't help you on the bars, if you have time-please tell more stories of the past!

Wow! I found them on the net. Google is awesome!

Here's a link to an old advertisement for them. Man, if I could only find another set of those . . .

I ran the Inter-Am bars on my 74 CR250 Elsinore. Massive flex though.
